明长城,是指明朝北部地区的军事防御工程,已被列入世界文化遗产名录,国家AAAAA级旅游景区,世界重点文物保护单位。
明长城是明朝在北方山区修筑的军事防御工程,亦称边墙,长城东起鸭绿江,西至嘉峪关(清代到现在称作东起山海关,西至嘉峪关)。明长城用材与秦长城相似,而区别于汉长城、隋长城。国家文物局和国家测绘局采经近两年的调查与测量。

水上长城——九门口长城,坐落在秦皇岛市山海关区境内,距北戴河30公里,全长1704米。其南端起于危峰绝壁间,与自山海关方向而来的长城相接。自此,长城沿山脊向北一直延伸到当地的九江河南岸,在宽达百米的九江河上,筑起规模巨大的过河城桥,以此继续向北逶迤于群山之间。“城在水上走,水在城中流。”便是人们对九门口长城的形象描述。
